The Idea of the Festival
What we offer:
- Most extensive festival for new Swiss folk music from all four linguistic regions, focusing on instrumental folk music.
- Stage “Tonhalle”: experimental and innovative folk music in concert form
- Stage “Bauschänzli”: traditional dance music

- folk music in an urban context
- an up-to-date presentation of the Swiss folk music scene; premieres are a must
- supporting the development of Swiss folk music by giving young artists a chance to perform
- A mandatory piece must be performed by every artist. Our price, the Golden Swan, goes to the best arrangement, which is chosen by the audience.
- The “Stubete am See” has its very own orchestra – the “Ländler Orchestra”. During every Stubete, this orchestra presents a new composition. Past composers: 2008 Domenic Janett / 2010 Dani Häusler/ 2012 ???
- A Stubete like it used to be: on the “Bauschänzli” stage, everyone can pick up their instruments and jump right in with the performing artists.
- representation of all four linguistic regions of Switzerland
- We bring Swiss folk music back to the prestigious Tonhalle Zürich. (Folk music used to be played in the Tonhalle before 1939.)
- exchange amongst the musicians
- Every concert on the stage “Tonhalle” is being recorded in order to provide the artists with some professional live footage. It is their choice whether they want to publish a live CD afterwards, as did for example the “Fränzlis da Tschlin” with their record “Fränzlis live! Da la Turnhalla a la Tonhalla,” recorded during the SaS 2008.
- The CD-label “Musiques Suisses” releases a festival compilation after every Stubete.
